Cinema Nights: Evil Does Not Exist

In this captivating Japanese drama, odd-job man Takumi (portrayed in a wonderful performance by non-professional actor Hitoshi Omika) is devoted to raising his daughter in a village nestled within a forest, where he collects spring water for communal use. The serene life they lead is threatened when developers eye the forest as the next destination for Tokyo's weekend glampers. Takumi realizes their reckless plans will contaminate the forest’s pristine water with sewage, a consequence the developers seem to dismiss.
